Some questions and answers about the process
I've looked at many franchises, what's unique about this one?
This is not a standard profession. This is a new franchise concept where you can still get in on the ground floor and own a professional and respectable business servicing billion dollar clients. Each and every case assignment has its own unique set of circumstances that require intuitive and spur of the moment decisions that can dramatically affect the outcome. This is an exciting business that is easy to get passionate about; because we all want to curb the impact insurance fraud is having on our premiums.
Are you focused on a particular type of investigation?
The first thing we’d like to clear up is that we are not Magnum PI spying on cheating spouses, nor are we James Bond fighting International terrorism. We specialize in the investigation of insurance fraud and obtaining evidence on claimants on behalf of our clients.
Does L&W have corporate accounts? How is business generated?
L&W has a business development team that will actively leverage current corporate clients as well as assist you in contacting new potential clients in your market. We view business development as a 50/50 effort, though initially most of your case work will come from pre-existing clients.
Our network of offices is also a marketing machine. Most companies and insurance carriers are national. They need a network to simplify their investigative outsourcing. We are a one-stop source to handle all their investigative needs, nationwide.
Do I need investigative experience?
L&W requires you to complete an initial 5-day orientation at our corporate office in Westborough, MA. We also offer optional workshops for various aspects of the business as needs dictate. Training sessions are included in the franchise fee, but you will assume personal expenses for travel, accommodations and meals.
Will I need to rent an office and hire staff?
Thanks to the Internet, much of the business management can be conducted from a home office or small professional office location. While your investigators will spend most of their time in the field performing surveillance and/or witness statements, their field notes and obtained evidence will be transferred from the Internet. At some point, when case volume dictates, we would prefer to have all of our owners in a professional office environment. Basic starting office equipment such as a phone, fax machine and copier is all you will really need to get started.
What is the initial franchise fee?
The entire franchising package requires an initial investment in the neighborhood of $100,000 to $200,000, depending on the size of the exclusive territory. Our philosophy is different then other franchises you may find, in that all territories are very large and we expect to have no more than 100 offices in the US so we can focus on doing what we do best. Our willingness to offer large territories reinforces our need for capable and committed franchisees.
How much does the franchise royalty fee run?
L&W royalty fee is 7% of your monthly gross receipts.
